Well, its the first week in the new tank, and the first 2 days both parrot fish were eating fine, but now the 1 just keeps hiding in the rocks, and doesnt really come out to eat, unlike the other 1 who justs eats everything. Is this natural when they have just been introduced to the tank, will he start eating again?

Could be a little shy. The other might have declared a territory in the tank.

    Something to watch.

Fish, when they stress, try to swim away when something is not right. Toxicity, water parameters, or whatever. When they can not get away, they go into hiding, as if that would help!

Hopefully members with experience in these fish will give guidance.

Is he respirating a lot, with his mouth opening wide? Is his respiration different from the other one, did it change, did they both change?

Check the basics. NH3 NO2 NO3. When last did you do a water change? Is you filter cycled?

Is there enough oxygen, aeration. Higher temps require more aeration.

What is the Ph? Could it have changed suddenly?

Did you dechlorinate your water before doing WC?

Is there other fish in the tank that bullies him and make him scared?

Is all the other fish behaving normally?

Does he go up for air more than the other one? Is all fish going up for air intermittently?

If any of these is out of line, come discuss.

Maybe it is normal and he is only now realizing he is in a different place? If things deteriorate, come scream. Someone will help...?

He sometimes eats and sometimes doesnt eat. His breathing etc seem normal, doesnt go up to top of tank much, but the other fish (only have 2 at the moment) will chase him around during feeding time. Maybe this is the factor why he is hiding?

As for the other fish, everything is perfect with that 1, except when you walk past the tank he screams into the rocks like a scared little child lol. I also do regular water changes (weekly).

Yes well, strange fish world we live in. They are probably then just sorting out who is who and will chill in time.
