    Hi All
I inherited these from my late father in law, but have no idea what they are. Can someone help please? I know the kissing guorami in the foreground, but i need to find out what the smaller dark fishy is (there are two of them in the tank). He/She also has a white spot on the side - but have already started treating for Ich, just in case.

Apologies for the bad quality photos...

It's a bastard to try and photograph. Did my best here but may have to take it out and do it properly if this doesn't help.

Ok, I got my SLR out to see if I can get a better shot. Here it is. The rest of the fish seem fine, no sign of white spot. Just this guy with this BIG spot....

Rainbow cichlids are a great cichlid to keep, which stays small. Most likely you have a pair, they are one of the easiest cichlids to breed.
I myself have a breeding pair.

Rainbow cichlids are blacklisted if I'm not mistaken.

    That is not Ich.
Ich is much smaller and will not stay just one spot.
When did the white spot first show up?
Did it get bigger or did you only notice it when it was present size.
What meds are you putting in your tank?

Yep, Rainbow Cichlids, as for the mark, could it be a bite or scuff mark? (I can't see if the mark is above the scales or if there are no scales)

Well the mark is still there but seems to be fading. Also spotted the Kissing Gourami taking a mouthful of that same Cichlid so I have a suspicion that that may be the cause.

Another thing I've noticed is that the pair of Rainbow Cichlids seem to change color, in terms of intensity. At times they're quite contrasted and other times they look quite bland. Any idea why this could happen?

Rianbow cichlids change colour when they want or start to breed, they turn a nice orange and black colour and other times they look pale. I have a breeding pair as you do.

I'll have to read up on their breeding conditions, know nothing about them! Thanks for the info though, 23skyline!
