    Good Day to you all.

I have just signed up to this site & already I find it most interesting.:p My lil' story starts two years ago when for Xmas then, I bought for the ol' man a JEBO R338 Fish Tank. As Xmas prezzies go, he was very excited to get it up and running, as we have had VERY LARGE fish tanks through the years.
I discovered that after about two months nothing had been done yet with the tank, so after some prompting he started to 'assemble' it.
To cut a looong story short, he got fish for the tank on two occasions, which subsequently died:amazed::amazed:. Due to that he lost interest, and I then took back the tank this past Xmas (2010).
I am very excited to get it up and running, but lack the knowledge of setting the JEBO R338 up as there is no instruction manual. I have looked ALL OVER the 'web' for such instructions, but have come up short. I am on my way shortly to a Pet Shop mate of mine, whom I hope can help me .... barring that... if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated!
    Regards ... Craig.

    Welcome,Craig K! :)

I have a very similar tank to that Jebo you are talking about. Tell me what you have done to set up the tank so far?

    Thanks,
    SAMollyBreeder

    Hey Guys....

    Thanks for the welcome!
So far I'm cycling the tank ... no fish yet or plants ...
The pet store I have been to has guided me a lil' into what to do .... so one step at a time.
I'll be setting up a Tropical tank, not a cold water one. ( One day when I'm beeeg i'll get a Marine Tank .. *sigh* ):p

Welcome to the wet nut house,mate... those little Jebo's are great little tanks,enjoy...

read through some of Zoom's articles - sticky threads under Beginner discussions - to get a better grasp of starting a tank and the nitrogen cycle...

I've been 'told' to start with some Hardy fish .... Platties, Danio's or Chicklets (hope my spelling is correct) ... not too many though to start. Then after the cycling has settled down, I would like to get some Neon Tetra's and the like...

A nice fish to start a tank off with are those Zebra Danios. Those are quite hardy.

Thanks MollyBreeder ... Zebra Danio's it will be .... :)

I have found out that Chicklets are actually aggressive fish, and might go after the Tetra's ..... is this true?

    Excellent... thank you.

Just another 48 hours to go and I can start with a couple of them. I started cycling yesterday at about 13h00. After cycling is done, can one then , besides the fish, also start to introduce plants?

I know logically it makes sense .... but just wanted to make sure. At the end of the day I need to 'prove' to ' someone ' that I can do this .... as I was told I couldn't .... so I need to do it right !!

Howdy Craig and a warm welcome!

You can add plants before fish! You should probably wait longer before adding fish, though Danio's are sometimes used to cycle tanks, some consider this cruel. I'm NO expert, but am passing on gleaned info. Read Zoom's sticky about setting up your first tank and cycling, if you haven't already.(in the beginners discussions forum, at the top!) I have some Zebra Danios, can recommend them! They were tiny when I got them, but grew beautifully, very rewarding and fun to watch, cos they're very active!

Of course you can do it! Why ever not! DONT rush though! Best of luck!

I introduced my plants first and then I put my fish in the day after. Make sure the plants you get are proper aquatic plants.

    You can do it!!!!

    Thanks Tracy,

I'll probably wait until the weekend to get all the bits and pieces that I need. That will include the thermostat , fish, plants etc ....

But I WILL take it slow and not rush .... ;)

    Pics to follow ... :)

    Hi
    CraigK

This is a nice tank as I have one myself. Over the period I have had the tank I've used mine as a quarantine tank, have used it as a nursery for mom and kids and now only have one cichlid in it.

With the help of the guys on the forum, you will be able to "make" it.

    Regards and good luck.

    Thanks Justin...

I read up on "Zoom's Instructions for Beginners " and it has helped me a lot. I have just purchased two aquatic plants and have Chlorinated the water ... now I'm going to wait for the weekend before I introduce any fish! :)
