    Hey all.
I started fish keeping about 18months ago and since thenI’ve been so obsessed with it I might have gone a bit overboard. I’ve had tosell all my tanks to make the Mrs. happy but she came to her senses so I’mback. I have two tanks now and that’s just the start of it. One is still inconstruction phase and the other is listed below.
I have my tank setup for about a month now. I’ve beencontemplating sharing it on the forum. It’s very low tech. There is some growthso I think I must be doing something right.

    • Custom 1.5 footer ( I built it using and oldcracked tank )
    • Custom 50w heater ( It burnt out I retreaded it( not cracked ) )
    • 450 l/h HOB
    • Custom lighting (LED strips stuck inside half ofa 110mm plastic pipe.)
    • Fluorite red substrate with +-20% white gravelmix
    • Some wood

Plants include grass (Dwarf Sagittaria frommy research) Java moss and others I got from a generous forum member. Stillresearching them, input from other members is always welcomed.

Fish include a few guppies and a neon daniowhich came with a tank I purchased. I want to get rid of the guppies and danioand stock a dozen neon tetras only.

Lights go on at 6.00am and off at middayand on again at 6.00pm to 10.00pm so roughly 10 hours give or take.

Will be dosing with Seachem Flourish once aweek.

I do water changes daily – about 5-10percent. Using Prime for the new water. First picture is the first setup andsecond pic is what it looks like now. ( Mission uploading pics)[IMG][IMG]

    Hi there and welcome,

The only thing that would bother me is your heater. I would invest in a new one as soon as possible. It might cook your fish if it fails again. To resize pics quickly I use MS paint, there's a resize button at the top, I just make it 50% and its good for upload.

It depends on the original file size your phone or camera saves it at. With my phone 50% is normally ok. Just have to get it under 2mb. Another fish to consider is galaxy rasboras, I really like them, they look like tiny little trouts.

Try Aqua Empire, or Nano Aquatics.
    They are on Facebook.

Aqua empire fish are really well priced as they breed all sorts. They are in Randburg.
