A school of Tiger barbs or any school of the bigger Tetras would work.

Tiger barbs are not too aggressive. They will be good tank mates. Get a school of 8 or 10. The Firemouths will grow bigger than them and they will feel threatened if they are not in a large enough school.

You can get Tiger barbs and green Barbs. It will give you a very pretty display.

Busy fish and fin nippers but not aggresive really. But in a school they are more into themselves. Keeping one or two will result in harrasment of other fish. The green barbs is also a stunning looking fish and dare i say less busy.

Kribensis is not aggresive and keep only a small terrtory. Might work. but the Fm might bother them later.

Oscar freak, I was just about to say the same thing. Deacons but the 3foot tank is defenitely too small for them.

What about some Tanganyika cichlids? They're not as aggro as Convicts and the fire mouths don't grow much bigger than them.

Good idea Go-Big. They're a bit more aggressive than Barbs, but won't bother the fire mouths unless they breed, but that can go the other way if the fire mouths breed aswell.
