Hi there guys and girls - long time no see!

So I will be upgrading from my 1ft to a 6ft 500l this weekend! :)

Definitely getting a fire eel, wanted one since always.... just worried about some of my current fish

I have a few oto's, shadow cats, corys and a female Ancistrus (who is looking for a boyfriend if anyone can help)

OK so clearly I love my catfish, and I dont want any of them eaten. I believe the Ancistrus and Corys will be fine, but I'm worried the otos and shadow cats may get snacked on.
And if they do, that their spines might hurt the Fire Eel...

I'm thinking about getting a few yoyo loaches or something similar and my girlfriend has always wanted a BGK so thats going in too :)

Does anybody have experience mixing these species? Am I making any obvious mistakes with my species selection?

Any advice would be appreciated :)

anyone keeping otos with large spiny eels and bgk?

also been doing a lot of reading and recommended tank sizes range from 50 to 200 gallons... should I rather go tiretrack? I'm confused... TMI!

From what I remember, Fire and Tyre Tracks get to a similar size - big!

I personally wouldn't keep them with with smaller Spiny Eels, and other bottom dwellers may be at risk too.
If there is a disagreement, the smaller ones will "come short" and they will prob lose out at feeding time too.

If it was me, I would keep the Eels, with other decent sized fish.
Maybe one of the robust Plecs as another bottom dweller.
And then stuff like Silver Dollars, Tinfoil Barbs. Medium sized cichlids.

Yeah I especially like tinfoil barbs, I would like some plants so cichlids probably not a good idea for me at this stage. You think I should re-home my corys and otos?

If you then do decide to do the rehome thing. I would like to take all the small fish.

After thinking about it I think I m going to go with a Peacock Eel... not visually as stunning but apparently very similar small version f the fire & tyretrack. And shouldnt eat my other fish

ROEKSTE I will keep you in mind, thanks
