finally joined TASA

hello there everybody.

live in cape town. got into the hobby two years ago after seeing a girlfriends 70litre tank and taking over taking care of it as she didnt have the time.
made alot of rookie mistakes never having owned fish ever before. the biggest rookie mistake was listening to alot of petshops about which fish can go together and soon learnt to make best friends with google. google saved many of my fishes lives. here i am two years later found myself suffering from MTS. (multiple tank syndrome)

recently switched from 700litre fully planted discus because i could not pass up an opportunity for the gem of fish keeping for me "paratilapia polleni" the small spot. i managed to aquire 6 very small juveniles. theyre currently in the fully planted tank. i recently had a small spawning. went away for the weekend and came back to two dead polleni, the pair . that was last night infact. heart breaking. i have 4 polleni left which i would like to keep long term. i am putting one male into a hospital tank later this evening and treating with some general cure for his wounded and open lip from jaw locking with the now dead dominant male.

im so glad to finally have found and joined TASA. i dont want anymore mistakes. already had a phone call from "fishcrazy" an ex polleni owner which was a nice welcome to the forum!

tank is fully cycled and been going strong for about a year and a half. had a small 100litre tank after the 70litre. my plan was just a small community tank,,, yeah right i got the fish bug and now half my room is the 700litre bad boy.

im always on the lookout for fish that arent so common.

i have an albino veiltail oscar, not sure on the sex that i am looking to try breed with somebody else's oscar. its about 25cm big currently.

thanks so much guys! will work on getting some pictures uploaded to my profile from the start to what the tank is right now! just got to get to a friends pc with internet so i can upload all the photos from my phone quick and easily

Hi you need to click on the advanced button when adding or replying to your thread will then be a paper clip click on it from there on they basically tell you what needs to be done.
