I thought it best to move my slow progressing tank out of the new members section to here where the project will Slowly mature
    progress so far

then came the idea for a quarantine tank, so washed out an old 60 liter, and now i have 2 tanks up and running wiht no fishies, and a stagnant trickle of money to support the hobby

thanks, its just going slowly, i cant afford a testing kit either, so i dunno what my levels are, is there an alternative way to "know" when a tank has cycled?

When your fish stop dying :D:D

Seriously though, it GENERALLY takes around 6 weeks and sometimes longer....best bet is a test kit or take a sample of your water to your LFS as they often test for free :)

agree with veegal if your lfs is worth anything they will test your water for free.

I'll take some in testing vials i have to Moolis (finally gonna use them for what they were meant to do:D ), he's my closest LFS, wonder if he'll test for free... but i'll rather give the tank a few more weeks before i just go wasting his time.

I bought some java moss today, i have a piece of DRIFTwood, that refuses to sink under any curcumstances, so i lay some java moss on it. at least now it'll be a floaty piece of carpeted driftwood...

IF you want it to sink just tie a rock underneath it with gut and make a hole in you gravel to hide the stone/rock....
    it worked for me...

Please let me know were you got the moss, I am also looking for some to cover some drift wood.
