Female Jack Dempsey

    Anyone know where I can find a female Jack Dempsey? Have tried several shops and no one carries these fish it seems. If they do, its all males. Thanks :cool:

    they are black listed species so in truth no one is ment to carry them
    best way to sort a female is to buy 10 youngster and grow them out thou

    cheetos i dont know what area you are from but sams aquariums in bergvliet has a whole stack of juvi jack dempseys at the moment. all 2-5cm

    Hey @nodac, any other fish worth mentioning? given that they never had dempseys in ages

    i went middle of last week and they were getting more stock on friday. ummm the only other fish i can think of is Black calvus malawi and yellow lemon cichlid (not a malawi) actually have no idea what it is nor does sams. but they have a geophagus shaped body. they also had two 10cm red spotted severums in the back.

    gatesville got abt 4 juvies. they have them labelled as texas.

    @slogz that is too legend, a petshop with a BL fish (JD) naming it another BL fish (Texas) hahaha you have to love these LFS :smiley-laughing024:
