I have a 60L tank laying around and planning to set it up with driftwood and anubias, always been interested is Saimese fighters and would like to know if you guys and girls have had any problems keeping a harem of Betta females in the same tank? As they come in different colors and have a small bioload maybe a group of 6 or are they territorial as their male counterparts? Also can one keep shrimp with female Bettas?

Hi @Saturn. I have kept female betta fish once in a tank with also 6 females and didn't have any problems. It was a female betta tank only.
They aren't agvressive like the males at all. They are quite peaceful.
A 60L tank would be bog enough for them.

    Keeping Shrimp with them?
    It depends:
    1. Do you want to breed shrimp ?
    Or
2 .Do you want to keep them for display ?

    1. If you want to breed them, the bettas will eat the baby shrimps. Then I wouldn't recommend keeping shrimp with them. I would keep them in a seperate tank- bettas in one and shrimp in one.

    2. If you don't wish to breed them, then it is fine, they can go together.
Just remember the bettas can, and there is a chance, kill them and eat them, but I rarely see that. But remember, it can hapoen even I people say it can't. Be caution about this.
In my personal opinion, I wouldn't keep them in the same tank, unless there is hiding places for the shrimp- and plenty places to hide.
I really hope this info helps.

    Kind regards, Michael

Thanks @Mister MP, no the shrimp would be for algae purposes only either them or maybe otto's, I had a bad experience with golden algae eater attacking to a pearlscale once.

    My pleasure @Saturn.
If you had a bad experience in the past of keeping fish, for me, it help you to know much more better of what fish are compatible with other types of fish.
I would also say ottos will do the job.
You can try Ghost Shrimp, they are very hardy and great at eating food waste and cleaning up algea. They are also very cheap. I see my LFS sells them from R7 (feeders) - R20 ( non-feeders).
You can get feeders, but you must first check if they are healthy. Somwtimes feeders tend to be sick or not active ( which means they are sick or getting sick)
I have 2 Ghost Shrimps in my main tank with bettas, swordtails, platys, tetras, angles, barbs and minnows. They are great cleaners in the tank. They are also bigger in size compared to neocaridinas, like eg. Cherries, blue dreams ect.
    Kind regards,
    Michael
