For me heavily planted tanks simplify maintenance when it comes to keeping goldfish. Heavily planted tanks don't have to be cleaned out for years and water changes are kept at a minimum- filling up due to water evaporation is necessary once a week. Cleaning the front glass, thinning out plants and replacing filter wool are the biggest jobs to be done!

Yes I aspire to have a planted tank like yours one day, have lots of vallisneria in glass containers in my tank and the fish seems to love swimming through it, so far the vallis and java moss seems to be okay with the goldies.
