    Hi guys

I currently have 1x oscar, 2x convicts, 2x firemouths and 2x plecos in my 1.2m tank. For the cichlids I am currently feeding them flakes and frozen blood worm. How often should I be feeding them? and is that all I should be feeding them? Currently I feed them flakes in the morning and then blood worm at night, sometimes blood worm and flakes at night. Is this fine? The fish are all within the 5cm range at the moment and I know cichlids grow quickly. Any help will be appreciated.

fisrt off tank is far too small for what they are going to grow into
get them on to pellet food, much higher protein content and much more cost effective and less waste so better water quality
try get hakari, tetra or serra food designed for South american and central american cichlids, predator based food not food for malawi cichlids as diet requirements are different
get a bigger tank man 1 oscar at 25cm will have a 4 foot for himself and it will get that size in a year

hello, i have large cichlids aswell and i only do feeding once a day and the frozen food only twice a week IMO change from blood worm to brime shrimp its safer and brings beter colour to your fish i aslo use tetra prime as they love it,helps with growing and colour!
and if u can use hikari aswell.i use hikari tetra and frozen brime shrimp and it works amazing

Thanks for the advice guys and I will try find the food suggested. I have had big oscars before and other big cichlids, a big red devil and a big jaguar, but that was many years ago. So when this one gets too big for this tank I will then have to decide whether to get the bigger tank or I will have to sell it to someone who has the tank to handle him. Obviously I'd prefer the bigger tank option as I wouldnt want to lose the fish but I will decide when it is closer to that time.

Thanks guys, I ended up getting the tetra sticks for SA cichlids. They are loving them, it says on the bottle that you should feed them this a few times a day? Would this not be over feeding them?

Ocean. Nutrission makes a good frozen mix for your fish. Check it out as an option.

watch out that there is not a build up of eaten food, most cichlids are also as messy as hell they will chew food and spit out lots of pieces this need to be cleaned out often like 2 a week min
    good luck
