So yesterday I saw some featherfin catfish (R25 and about the size of a cory),
looked like euptera, and I was wondering if one could work in my community tank.

I also saw some asian glass catfish (Kryptopterus minor) ,R45 and still quite small,
and I really would like a small group of 4 of them aswell.
My community tank is 160L (100x40x40) and has the following inhabitants:

    3 x angelfish
19 or 20 x male guppys (sub- and adult)
    3 x mountain minnows
    1 x flying fox
1 x vermiculated sailfin pleco (Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus) about 25cm
    1 x kuhli loach
    1 x bronze cory

I've searched on the net, and found systems with euptera and kuhli's together, but I've heard bad things about them and corydoras. Some say their featherfins are calm and cool, and others say their mean and dominant.

On the asian glass cat's I've found 2 sites saying they can be kept with guppys, and the one specifically said male guppys, as long as there is no fry. I'm also a bit worried about how my flying fox might feel about them, although he is usually at the bottem and they are in the middle.

So do you guys think it would work, any personal experience, and what is the absolute minnimum for glass cats, behaviour, feeding, etc. ?

    Thanx in advance.

@Good_Times glass cat will be ok but the feather fin become aggressive when they get bigger and I think your tank will be to small for a full grown one these of mine are 20 cm already

i apology's for jumping on the wagon so late the glass catfish are ok but you need at least 5 (they group) they love hiding spots where they group together all day u need to keep daphine till they start accepting flake food (i use oceannutrition mixed with tera teck coulor some thing) i mush mine relatively fine as i have white clouds and tigerbarbs and i found that the food ends at the bottom of the tank if i don't ,i fed daphine and flake food at the same time once and they started eating flake food(some of them were not accepting the flakes at the start) i still treat with daphine form time to time they are middle strata fish and do not cope well with bully fish ive had mine for some time now with no hassles and a relatively weak flow in my tank (apparently they love flow)

Hello guys I can not say a whole lot about the Featherfin save that if it is a African species chances are that they will be agro and that they would prefer hard alkaline water as they will then probably be from the rift region if not African species keep in mind that some catfishes can grow to excess of two feet even in aquariums. This equates to a lot of waste. As for the Ghost cats I have kept some of them in my setups that I had a few years ago and they are fussy little buggers. They are shy, shock easily and they require the majority of their diet to consist of live or frozen foods. They also take a very long time to adjust to new surroundings and their water quality must be very well maintained. Best temperature range from 22 - 29 Celsius. They are originally from Thailand and Indonesia. Hope this helps a bit but again I am very sure that it might be too little info at this stage as I am very sure that you have done some research.:top: HEHEHE lekker lag ek nou vir myself die thread is al oor n jaar oud!!

I had a featherfin cat a while back. Got him when he was the size of a cory and he grew to 20 cm in a few months. They can get quite big and might eat your guppies.
