fallen meteor thing

please tell me someone in the jhb/pta area also saw the THING fall from the sky in a streak of fire just to the pretoria-west side of the n14 near diepsloot. Our family saw something drop from the sky in a streak of fire/ when it hit the ground the sky lit up in an awesome green tinged flash. I think the grass caught a bit of fire as well/ . What the hell was that? was at 11:10pm ish

I saw something similar while out quadbiking last year but this was in the afternoon, looked awesome, but couldn't find anything..

 

i dont live near there. looked like it fell near a development area or construction site. was to far from the highway to get exact location. all i wanna know is what it was. looked friggin AWESOME

Scaly - probably a meteorite - large numbers fall all year round, but if you wanna see amazing, wait for the leonid meteor shower and go out to the magalies to watch it....

 

When wil that be happening?

 

i saw it, it looked like it was 6 am in the morning, thats how bright it was for about a second

 

yep. and the last few meters of the streak kept hanging in the air for a few seconds. if it was a meteor, why did the impact cause that bright flash? just plain transfer of kenetic energy?

 

Ferryman i saw it as well. Was at my GF in Bronkhorstspruit about 30 minutes drive from pta east. we were watching dvd when the night went white like a lightning strike that lasted about 10 -15 seconds. we were freaked out lol
