@Quue - I have the same canister but it's still in it's box. How is it from a noise point of view and did you change any of the internal filtration? Is this your new substrate?

@MarcHawke it is quiet if you put the out take at the same leave as the water... and naa its the old substrate but with out the peat moss... the plants seem to be doing grate...and the substrate is black volcanic

@Quue - I can't wait to unpack mine but I'm busy getting a 245l started. I think I'm going to land up hooking up the canister to that tank. I know it's a bit small (flow rate wise) but hoping it will work if I use an internal filter as well. I see you have the spraybar above the water line. Is it creating a lot of mogvement in the tank?

Sorry to be a bit of a wet blanket... the tall plant in your tank, the one with the long stem and then the leaf... I suspect it's not a true aquatic. If you could give us a close up we can make sure. I think it's a potplant called spathiphyllum, which is commonly sold by the lfs as an aquarium plant, but it won't survive.

@MarcHawke it does have a little movement but nothing hectic.... the swordtails seem to love the "Current" and @tracyp i will get a close up a little later but i must add i have had these type of plants before and they seemed to do great but will double check for you...

@Quue - My fish actively play in the current. They swim from right to left below the current and then pop up into the current and cruise from right to left.

+1 @tracyp, That is Spathiphyllum Wallisii. Also called the Peace lilly. They will grow in aquaria for quite some time. But it isn't a true aquatic. They are actually sold as pond plants. That's why we get them at lfs from time to time.

and @MarcHawke the filter does 500/L per hour so its quite a little demon in my opinion...and very easy to clean... and thanks @SloMo.00. still alot to happen before i am slightly happy.... alot more plants and fish just waiting for everything to settle before going crazy...

@Quue - Can you see which way the filtration works. Is it top to bottom or the other way around?

I was probably a bit vague. Does the water flow down through the filtration media and then get sucked to the tank or does the water push up through the filter and get sucked to the tank?

the water is pushed through the media and flows back in the tank.... if you open the filter its self you will see how those works.... but i might be seeing it wrong but from what ive seen and kinda pieced together in my head thats the most logical

@Quue - Thanks so much. It helps with which way around to do the filter media ie filter floss on top, biomedia (Matrix) below, water purification (Purigen)below that. (I think this is the correct sequence or at least how I understand it). I will experiment when I have it up and running.
