So on Saturday I head off the local Petstores in search of plants and ferts.

After a whole day off searching I head home with five pots of finely selected plants. Found some nice ferts aswell, but thats a story for another time.

So I get home, do the usual 50x-aquascape-till-you-get-it-right.

Now as with all things in this hobby, I was not in the mood to wait. So 8pm saturday I head out to the Spar to get some Yeast and some Protein powder to make some DIY CO2 action.

Awesome, get home, cant find a 2l bottle. So now I'm miffed, Dig around and I find a 1l bottle.(This is the point where things go wrong, quickly)

So mix up everything as per instructions, plug the airpipe into the powerhead and voila, tiny little CO2 bubbles being fed into my tank.
Ahhhhhhh:cool:, and this point I relaxed and just enjoyed the tank for a while.
I turned around to get a beer, as I looked back I just saw the whole tank looking like a Sterri-Stumpi.

The CO2 mixture in the 1l bottle started foaming out of control down the airtube into the tank!:amazed:

So I had the 2nd 100% waterchange in one day.
    Massive Fail.

LOL, thanx, I feel a bit better now.

I'm just afraid of the ethanol by-product that yeast and sugar creates. Should I be worried?

Should have found another bottle and made that the CO2 separator. This happened to me when I first experimented with this mix. Just gave up on planted tanks at that point. :(

Frankly, every time I made a DIY CO2 mixture and everytime half of it landed in my tank so I made a separator and has never happened again. Also it is very help full whne you want to add two or more 2l bottles for more CO2 for bigger tanks.

    Regards
    Peter
