Endlers keep breeding female offspring

Hi guys,

So I've been experiencing something strange in my tank with endlers. In about the last 8 months or so, some of my male endlers died off, I have one male in the tank for the past 4 months. The fish are breeding constantly, however every new fish is a female.

Im sure the male doesn't mind the fun, but what could be causing them to only breed female offspring?

I have heard that temperature can play a role.

 

It does seem that temperature very much affects the gender of offspring in fish. Not sure about live-bearers specifically, but egg laying fish it definitely can. Warmer water results in more males, cooler in more females.

 

Temperature was also my suspicion, however this started occuring after I bumped up the heater for winter. So I assume its the warmer temp thats causing them to be female.

Will decrease temp and see what happens.

Dropped the temp and they're breeding males again.
