How is your elephant nose doing with the rest of the fish? They not fighting? One only have one?

Elephant nose don't fight with any fish, they only bump them out of the way to get to the food, but they like to chase each other and fight with each other for food. If you get one just make sure it is in a good condition, nice and fat I bought 5 and 2 skinny ones from my he batch died on me because they just don't want to eat.

One clown, two YoYo's and one Tiger
Clown Loach is almost a year old, YoYo's are almost 9 months and Tiger year and a bit. Nellie should also be about a year

Saw that the clown took on Nellie this morning. I had to break the fight. If clown keeps this up, he will fly down the drain

I have never seen my elephant nose fight with my clowns or any other fish.... I had to split 2 of my elephant noses because the bigger one keeps bullying the smaller one. What do you feed your elephants?

Bloodworms and beef heart (when he decides to give it a go) but this was this morning and not at feeding time.

I find it sad that these fish are kept in aquariums, I think its one of those fish that should just stay in the wild. Thousands are probably killed each year for or in the aquarium.

I was interested in getting one but only if I'm sure I can provide the right conditions. At least the pet shop gave good advice to people about these

Reboot this old thread.. I have purchased one of these guys and am very excited to see how he gets on.
I have done the prerequisite research and so far only issue i can see could be my flourite substrate. The pieces are surprisingly light and being clay based are not sharp so im hoping at least initially that he/she will be ok.
Nonetheless i believe a finer substrate will be required so the plan is to use clean river sand (umgeni) to try and keep with the coloration of the current setup.
Very keen to get some beasties living in the substrate to supply this person with live food..

Thank you @ MariaS, quite excited about him/her, im confident that I can keep him/her happy. Its kind of hard not to give this fish a very childish name, that protrusion....

So are you keeping the fish alone or with other compatible fish?
