About 2 years ago I started my first aquarium. not knowing anything about aquariums I bought this eco aqualizer for R448 . but I really cant see it doing anything. my other tanks run great without it. does anyone else have any comments about this devise. to me it looks like the water is just running through a tube. . I will put a pic of the from of the box up as well

Based on what it looks like, I would suspect that is is just a fancy tube that houses the mechanical and biological filtration medium?

Kinda like pumping the water up into a hood filter, and trickling back into the tank.

Maybe the pro's have other experience, or know more about it that I do.

its got magnets in it and the tube is impenetrable to water...

varying reports on this device exist all around the world.

its supposed to increase the oxygen content, eliminate algae and stop/prevent diseases.

Well I've used it about 4 years back on a recirculating marine system instead of UV and guess what happened... there was a batch of fish that came in and the disease spread!

Personally I would not use it and will not sell it.

Sorry to bring up this old tread but I've noticed something. When i started this hobby I used this thing with each tank I started. But I Got so much brown algea that I restarted that tank about 3 times until I lost interest in fish keeping because of the algae that just never went away. But when I restarted in mid 2009 I've not used that thing since and with about 8 tanks running I've not had an algae problem since. So I'm now sure it works. But it maybe works too well.

I remember seeing some pics on the net where somebody dismantled one of these, it consisted of nothing but an empty tube with a few magnets sellotaped around the outside.
