maintenance as in getting it going or after it starts running?
the tub filter will be very low maintenance, basically topup with water and clean media every few months.
the glass tanks will be bear bottom so very easy to siphon out excess food and waste.

Post a video anyway, even if it explodes and floods the entire house.

Theee will always be maintanance with a breeding set up. All depents on your dedication to the project. Most days it's awesome to do and other days you just do it cause you have to.

Thanks, yes im happy with the way it turned out, only issue i have now is plugging the overflows without blocking the system. Otherwise shrimp will end up in sump

    Looking great @Ammar!

Well done.. you saved the marriage with the paint work and you didnt flood the house, that alone is quite an achievement!! Hahha
    Unlike me....
When we filled my big tank up and Cesar connected everything.. all looked good after a long day's work..we finished filling the last quarter of the tank... left it for the night..
Walk into my lounge the next morning... to probably 1500l of water on the floor...tank was half full
Needless to say Im literally in tears... and asking myself what on earth had James done... check the whole tank for leaks... all pipes for leaks.. there isnt a leak anywhere...
Try and vacuum up all the water.. thank God for tiles..
Meantime Cesar comes down from his house to come check if all is ok... yes... all ok and me in tears..
So.... findings.... he had glued the air pipe for the airstones to the bottom of the tank but didnt connect the pipe to the pump and left the whole roll on the floor.... as you will have guessed by now... gravity emptied out half of a 3500l tank overnight..
Sorry for the derail... just had to share the silly things that happen.... I was so relieved it wasnt the tank that we both burst out laughing at how silly he had been!!

    Jokes aside, well done.

Lol great story. Glad it ended up with a good laugh. I think every tanknowner must have gone thru the flooding stage. I have floided my tank on numerous occasions, forgeting the hose pipe in there. But also thank god for tilee. Its a quick fix.

When you plan a fish room ... you get a great result :)

Usually we just randomly add tanks as we go and the MTS overtakes our sense of reasoning, well in my case anyway.

@MariaS I've flooded the house twice refilling after a WC and once when a tank burst in the kitchen - we didn't laugh - I think my wife wanted to kill me especially when I had to go to work at a sports event and left her to clean up for another 5 hours .. good times

Thanks @Marcel_73, its good to finally see it flowing.. everything looked good on paper, and came together nicely.

i think you broke the number 1 rule of MTS... i think it ranks higher than quarantining fish and water changes.. and thats KEEP THE WIFE HAPPY at all times!!
i made sure I cooked dinner before taking the video last night :lol:.

Led looks very good. I hope you have a prefilter over the hob inlet else you might get some eggs sucked in there
