Drilled two tanks today; 51mm. I will pick up some glass pieces tomorrow to build the overflows. The trick is to be patient and use water.20180501_130258.jpg 20180501_132905.jpg

nice .. don't have to do a box - could just do a bulkhead and a standing pipe ... just be sure that you never snap the base by leveraging the pipe.

@f-fish l will just do as before with one sheet of glass at 45 degrees. The bulkhead pipe will be too risky when working on the tanks or catching fishes at a later date

100% - the 45 degree is actually rather clever - does not take up all that space and gives you nice edge to plant / scape against.

Hmm thinking about it, one could probably do an algae scrubber on the inside of that bit of glass.

always better to have glass when drilling the bottom.

Overflows in, stand up and tanks installed. Probably enough for today! 20180505_133420.jpg 20180505_133321.jpg 20180505_140005.jpg

@f-fish Thanks! Slow steps, soon I'll have some extra space to play with! Making media bags for the sump is the next big job; lots of stitching... I'll keep you posted!

No, top tank drains to middle tank and then down to the sump for return in the last chamber. Very simple, but very effective!

yes i see this sorry what i ment to ask are you going to but a tee manifold in each overflow to try keep it quite, if you just have upright pipe it will make a lot of noise as air can not escape.
    something along these lines: https://www.google.co.za/search?q=s...AUICigB&biw=1280&bih=933#imgrc=q6xA3Y9EUZ40qM:

Cool, thanks, I'll look into it! I usually insert a length of smaller pipe into it which quiets it down.

Remember I have built overflows, I am not using the bulk head system. My other similar systems aren't too noisy. Just my jumbo tank was very noisy, but managed to quiet it down with a thinner length of pipe inserted into the down pipe.
