    Hi tasa
I bought a bunch of driftwood from a LPS , but need to cure it to release the tannins etc. What is the quickest way to do this ?

I seen posts of guys boiling the wood then soaking it over night in a bucket of water !

All depends on the size of the wood. If it's small enough boil it for quicker removal of tannins. Else you can put it in a tub and fill up with hot water, replacing water every day, long process as it can take longer than a month for the wood to sink.

As far as I know there isn't a method where you can get all the tannins out of the wood.

As @pierreschoonraad says, if small enough to fit in a big pot, boiling opens the pores in the wood thus speeding up the release of tanins

It the piece is too big then a big tub and replace the hot water daily, this will also work
Some people also throw their big pieces into the swimming pool if you have one and let them soak there for a while

All this does not ensure that all the tannins are released but greatly reduces the amount that gets released in your tank and at least the wood will sink

I you live in an area with very soft water you’ll need to take special care, because it can drop your pH way low.
