Driftwood question

Hi all

I was just wondering about Driftwood from the Beach. I have quite a few pieces but wondering if it is safe to use in my tank? I also wonder if the prep is different?

I'd do this:

1. Boil and soak in hot water (place a rock or two on top if it's not logged)
2. Drain and add fresh boiling water with some unscented bleach and let it soak.
3. Drain and boil with fresh water and then rinse it off a good couple of times.

You can now add it to the tank.

You can just boil it once also, but I'm giving you the paranoid route

Throw it in a bucket and see if it changes TDS much over a week or so. It may be loaded with salts. It's unlikely to carry any pathogens that'll be a problem in freshwater
