good morning all. I have had allot of time collecting driftwood's from different places and i have amassed a good collection more than i could use for my 4ft tank.

I have managed to cure most of the woods and i would like to know how much is too much?

would it pose a problem to use more that's required?
as every piece that was found and cured has all the right notches and holes.

    regards,
    Imran

    @imran sheik,

The amount of wood you use is basically dependant on how you want your tank to look.. I don't think that there is a specific amount as being too much

This being said, you must take into consideration leaving enough swimming space for your fish
Keep an eye on water circulation and that there being a lot of wood you don't have a lot of dead spots where dirt accumulates by being trapped by the wood and circulation not reaching these spots
And finally... wood is weight and space... the more wood ( or any other décor) you have, the less water volume you have

Take the above points into consideration and use your judgement depending on tank size and the fish in the tank

Totaly agree with what @MariaS said. But it boils down to personal preferance. I don't think there is something as too much wood in a tank. There is always space for 1 more piece

I also have many pieces of driftwood.
The Rays need plenty of space on the floor of the tank, so I only have 2 pieces in the tank at the moment. But the rest is in bags in the garage. If I ever change my setup, I would do something that looked like a flooded forest.

that is exactly what i want to achieve... a flooded forest ;)
just need some dragon stones and plants and i'm good to go but with commitments left, right & center i cant seem to find the time to amalgamate my passion.
i will definitely be settled up by April 19

The very general rule is that most fruit trees, and hard woods (like oak), should be fine. But be sure of the identification before picking up piece and putting it in your tank. Some plants can leach harmful chemicals into your tank.

Driftwood can change pH, depending on a number of factors. Most "new" wood will lower pH when added, even when completely dry, due to leaching tannin into the water as well as some degree of a rotting process. Both can bring pH down, but how much depends on the type of wood used. Wood that has been submerged for some time will have leached most its tannin out, and will have a slower breaking down process, and as such will have much less of an effect on pH.

That's awesome! I love the mixture of dark log and light spider wood. The dragon rock and the pebbles; plant poking out all over.
    Very nicely done!

    Great look you have there.
Some stems at the left rear will sort out the "bareness" and give the tank a new look.
