"Drift Wood" in a community tank

    Hi All
    I just want to find out if you have a fruit tree that was hit by lightning about 2 years ago (orange tree) can you use it branches in a tank or not?:tomato:

    I don't see why not. I know of people using Guava branches. So long as you never used chemical poisons on the tree, it should be fine.

    I don't know if it has poisons used on it but I like I said it has been dead for 2 years more or less. Would it work if you leave it in Boiling water to clean off any poisons and dirt? :wondering:

    I would let it soak for a long time before adding it to my tank. I mean 2 or 3 months.

    Then that is what I will do about 3 months you say do you add anything in the water, can it be cold water as well or must it be warm water?

    Hot water is best, releases the tannins better!

    put it in the pool for about week then in the sun for a week then boil ,.did this with a peace about 60cm high and 60cm wide worked so well im not even using ac any more.

    Personally i'd be carefull about the pull, as the wood could absorb chlorine!
