ok so im not a crazy activist bunny hugger type but this sh&*t is just wrong! i taped a doccy last night called The Cove and watched it this afternoon and it is horrific, 23 000 dolphins are stabbed to death every year from September to March for their meat. they are rounded up in groups of a couple of hundred and then barricaded into this cove, trainers then arrive to choose those that they want to use as trick animals and for the swim with dolphin programmes world wide. those that are left are dragged around a rock wall to a smaller cove where they are stabbed to death and butchered. they slaughter in this smaller cove so that they can stop people from watchng them slaughter and so keep it under wraps. the fisherman involved are violently opposed to anyone being there with a camerae. watching the doccy the crew where followed the entire time they were there and the officials use any excuse to arrest and deport those that come to protest this.

the motivation behind this is as with all evils motivated by money as they can get up to 150 000 dollars per live trick dolphin and the Japanese government are also promoting the killing as pest control saying that dolphins are reducing the fish stocks of the oceans. (ridiculous right?)

there is a facebook group so join if you got facebook, it only takes a few minutes. for those who are more people orientated the meat is often passed off as whale meat (just as bad in my view) and has 2000ppm mercury content, the reccomended limit in Japan is 0,4ppm, this meat is toxic! this is something that as fish keepers we should all be violently against.

watch the doccy, its horrific, bloody and eye opening, but by not watching it and sticking your head in the sand you become an accomplice to this attrocity! in the doccy you can hear the dolphins screaming

I recall bits and peaces, must have been long-haul in-flight entertainment.

Probably worth seeing it without the assistance of a sleeping pill.
