Does anyone know where i can get peat moss in cape town

Hi gents

Does anyone know where I can find peat moss in cape town, no one has I have been to stodels they confirmed that there suppliers haven't sent for over 7 months, I cant find anywhere please help.

 

If it is the same stuff that you get in the nurseries, then try starke ayres in rondebosch, i have seen some there

 

Drop a line to farmer on the forum, i got some from him and he knows where to get it

for PEAT'S SAKE!!!

You won't find PEAT moss...stark ayres have local semi-decomposed Outeniqua/Wilderness forest product which is used HORTICULTURALLY as peat. ie ion-exchange, planting substrate which acidifies soil.
You can never rely on the cleanliness, safety, nor consistency of most garden centre peat products....

If you want this for water treatment for aquarium fish, you can contact me, I have some German Peat products, used to soften water..this product is used in preparation of aquarium water, or may be added to any filter chamber or bag...all the While monitoring pH, and KH

Note, it is not safe to use Peat (or softeners, acids, etc) in water ALREADY inherently soft..as we have here in the Cape area.

You will simply lose control and have diastrous results with fish health and safety issues when your pH plummets.

Anyway, that is not to scare you away..it's to empower you.

PS if what you are looking for is the fibrous actual peat moss, to be used as spawning substrate for killi etc there are a few products available as well.

thanks I was under the impression, that the ph stabilises as I've seen someone that uses it and his ph is stable I don't know much about the usage of peat moss, on the bag itself it gives a ph reading of 6.5 please give some advice on methods to use peat for a Discus setup.

with the peat , can the ph become unstable?
