Hey all, I made a DIY Twinstar algae inhibitors and am wondering if it works? Does this actually stop algae and help plants? And are there any negative side effects?[IMG]

    Ya sure
-I cut 4 layers of stainless steel mesh
-Hot glued 2 of the mesh layers onto each side of the pvc tube
    -Cut off the extra mesh
-Found a old battery charger, 25V 1000mA, cut it to expose positive and negative wires
-Hot glued the positive wire onto one side and the negative wire onto the other side

I think it would work better if I cut the pvc pipe smaller
I’ve noticed that it makes the fish tank very cloudy for a while and then becomes normal after a while
I am probably going to need a timer for short intervals during the day to reduce the amount of cloudiness of the fish tank

Do you mean you are putting live power into your tank stuck with hot glue?

Kinda, the current only goes from one side of mesh to the other, and it’s not a large amount of current it’s only 1A or 25W all together
I’m not too sure if hot glue is a good idea but online it says that hot glue is safe

You are indeed very brave.. I'd rather not try this and find the cause of the algae and beat it that way

Does the hot glue insulate the current or do you feel the electricity when sticking your hand in the water?
