You tank is only going to be supported around the edge by the frame.
    1. put a peace of wood between the frame and the tank this spreads the weight
    2. leave the foam in place cause you can get black tape from builders warehouse, they do sell different widths.

I did put in a brace in the middel

the current stand that i got with the tank is 20mm sqaure tubing and only supporting the tank around the edges, thats why i made a new tank with six legs and middel brace

can i now use canopy rubber.....

ok il leave the foam, and use black tape.

    Hi Carl
Its always best to have a middle brace gives the stand strength and makes it more rigid against movement.
i use to have and still have 1,2 meter tanks stacked on frames of tubing and all of them have wood and foam.
    Rather safe than sorry :)

I put a wooden base on all of mine.

Got to any cupboard/wood place and get them to cut exactly, and edge it for you.

You can usually take one of their precut melanine shelves and trim that.
Cost is usually around 100 odd, by then its water resistant and very neat.

A cross brace will prevent any middle sagging.

DON'T USE MELAMINE!!! It's made of chipboard, and ANY water that get's onto the wood is absorbed and swells. The wood can literally be pierced with your HAND after it's been wet. Even after edging has been done, the water get's behind it.

Rather get shutterply/shutterboard/marine board. Most places only sell full sheets tho (2.4 x 1.2). If cost is a major issue, pine can work as well, but I would then recommend varnishing or painting it.
