Just came back from our local lighting shop... They just sank my idea of building my own LED lighting system unless I can track down the right supplier. The lights (downlights) they had there was really useless. If you plug it in it looks fine (clear and bright) but boy, your penetration you get is just about non existant. Held my hand about 2 foot away from the globe and I could hardly see a lightbeam on my hand. Bottomline is, it might look good, but it might? illuminate your tank a bit, but it will deffinately not do for a planted tank. Think a candle has more lumins and kelvin that that globe

You do get LED downlights, which is probably what he was looking at.

I think we should wait for Zafgak to share more. I think he knows something that we don't know. *stares at Zafgak expectantly*

The LED tube lights I saw was only on the internet, but they dont really tell you much there except the price $95 a light. And the set-up they had using downlights had about 5 globes in it and going for $350... All too much for me
