diy external 300w aqaurium heater

[/IMG]here is my custom eheim jager external heater.

it is a 300w eheim jager in a 20 inch filter membrane housing. the filter housing was custom milled to allow better outflow and for wires to run into it.

The heater is connected to a stc 1000 temperature controller.all the wires is 16a wires from mains to unit and 13A running to heater. Inside unit I have a temperature probe to measure inside temp. the sensor of stc unit is mounted in tank. the filter housing is fed by an internal bubble magnus venturi pump with output of 2000lph. but as it is also attached to RO unit and 15ultrazap the real output is about 1000lph.

the unit is set to cutoff of 24°c and the heater is also adjusted to 24. have not calibrated unit. as is it has doublr redundancy built in.

At later stage I will add a 1hp chiller to unit and then have all round temp control.

Can I just ask - why are you making your life and your setup SO complicated ? Why is the heater not inside the tank like most guys have?
You have all this 'stuff' so I presume you going to buy a UPS unit to keep it all working when the power goes off to make your setup totally effective. What is you tank specs?

 

well I have breeding pair of giant gouramis and from previous owner he indicated he menrioned burns to gourami and almost lost female with a big lateral line burn. wanted to buy a hydor external heater but could not find one local.so I made my own.

 

Why not just buy a heater cover at the LFS like this one

 

well moved heater to sump.external heater restricted flow to much.
