OK so thought of this because of another thread, in theory it should work.

Just need someone to build one and test it out.
Keep in mind this would not be for large amount of brineshrimp.
The DIY aquarium guys should have most of the things needed.

First get youself a dvd case.Try and get the make in the picture as the other might not work as they do not seal tight at all.

The normal ones look like the one on the right. They use some clips to secure the bottom to the top. you need the left one becasue it screw fast and seal a lot better.

On the lid put a white dot in the centre covering the inner plastic rise.
Please use something aquarium safe( will show why later)
The rest of the lid should be completely blacked out on the outside.
You can paint it or whatever you want to do.
    The white dot should remain.
I did not balck this one out for demostration purposes.

Next remove the tip of the piece that hold the Dvd's in place on the bottom part. Not the whole thing only the tip!

When you screw the lid back you should have about a 2-3 mm gap.

and should look something like this from bottom(now top)

Using a pair of nail clippers, or something else, remove the end of the inside ridge on the bottom. This will make the next step easier.

Silicone a half ince piece of clear tubing onto the top so it would look like this. You can use about 3cm of tubing. It was raining outside and I got hungry so I went to town and got some slaptjips:p This tube should be siliconed in place so that it would not leak. Remember yours will be all black along the sides and bottom except for the white dot.

OK so now for how it should work ( holding thumbs).

When you put a light on top of it, can be normal ceiling light, the light will illuminate the little white dot.

What should happen is that the brine shrimp that is attracted to light will swim down to the little white dot because the rest would be pitch black.
When they get to the white dot they will see even brighter light on top of them and swim upwards and collect in the clear tubing where you can just pour them off. If you did not silicone the tube in properly yours would not hold water like the one in the photo.

When you fill it up make sure not to get the eggs in the centre part inside the tube. You can fill the tube after filling the bottom part.

The reason for the aquarium safe products is you can if you want to float it in your aqaurium which have the lights and the right temp.

You should still remember to make the right solution for hatching brine shrimp. Do not just add fresh water

Feel happy to discus this guys, might be the only way to get it working or better.

OK maybe someone should build one and test it before everybody ends up with something that does not work.

Most pc places have loads of these empty towers. Sadly they are mostly the clip in ones. Just ask somewhere you might be lucky.

would it not work better if the bottom was covered? so that the only light source was from the hole on the top?

The whole thing will be black except the white dot and the tube on top.

He did mention that he did not "paint" or "cover" this for us to see the pics clear.

This is a brilliant idea Vis....unfortunately for me, we go through far too much bs to be able to use it ourselves but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Thanks for sharing :)

I have a few questions on this one. I never hatched some, but watched YouTube vids of the aeration method. So my questions is this.
    1. Why not the aeration method, which seems very simple as well?
    2. Did anyone do this experiment?
    3. If not, why not?
    4. If, yes, why no feedback?
    5. How does one raise the little buggers to get to a decent bite size?

Awesome idea... this would work great as you could have 2 or 3 floating around the tank at differnt stages
