Hi there, anyone breeding discus around from now and over the long weekend? would really like to swing by and check out your fish and get some info please . Seems like I should contact prof Bellstedt, but as he's on his way out of the country for a while, anyone else willing to help?

I don't think the Prof is leaving just yet. Maybe next week sometime.

    Hi Gideon,

Yer, I would definataly talk to the Prof!! Even if you have to wait til he gets back it would be a worthwhile wait, and you can learn a lot!!

You may also get a bit more help if you expand on this Forum what info it is you are looking for??

There are plenty of Discus keepers here, and some who don't keep them, but can offer advice, if they know what questions you are asking??

    Just a thought!

    Cheers
    Big G!

It's an obsession..You sure you wanna go there????

    Hi Gideon

You CAN drop ME pm with your details..Im in Cape Town.
    ...
Don't hesitate....It's very rewarding mentoring someone NEW to this,
MORESO when it comes to one of my alltime favourites - DISCUS:bigsmile:

As Gareth points out, a request for info is BEST met with providing US with ENOUGH INFO to begin with!

I still DO keep, import , and breed Symphysodon.
Sometimes even SELLING a few of these awesome feeshees!!!

My hatchery is currently unstocked with broodstock, besides a few imported fish in quarantine.

If I may point out some background, so you are comfortable with my background with these fish.
Although my first Discus experience began in 1991, I successfully managed to raise them , in various situations and hatcheries - at home, and commercially - from around 1993.

By the way, I keep my breeder tanks ready, coz I never know when I may find something that catches my eye LOCALLY or on the international Discus scene...hehe

    cheers and good luck!

Thanx guys, I'd like to start breeding at some stage. but first want to get myself back into the swing of things before just jumping in. There's lots to read everywhere, but I'd like to know how people round here keep them healthy with locally available food, water and gear etc.. I'll check out all I can on the forum, and thanx Altum, will PM you sometime
