DISCUS - Gold Leorpard Snakeskin Pigeon

This is another one I got from Altum .... showing a bit of peppering due to my bad choice in substrate and backround .. he was clean when I got him ....

 

Heres some better pics of this fish .... PS - thats not dust, it's air bubbles ...

Well its kinda the same for me. I use to have marines and the discus is my compromise.

Im not a Pigeon blood discus fan, think they are all abominations, but this one has some nice colour and shape.
Can I ask something though, did you feed them extensively before taking these pics or is he somewhat bloated?
If its feeding tgen good going, thats what a well fed Discus looks like!

Interesting cross you got there. Whats the breeder's take on this one? Where does it originate from ie what strains are the parents? Also are there any vertical bars denoting the so-called snakeskin mutation or is this just part of another crazy given name?

What are you feeding your fish?

WOW.... beautiful fish. Something for me to work towards

 

Ok lets see what I can answer here ... sjoe ... also please bare in mind that I'm a hobbyist and not a breader. I like pretty and interesting fish - period. The name is what it was sold to me as and does'nt really have a profound effect on the beauty and worth of the fish to me.

Where exactly its from I dont know/ cant remember. @ Altum - can you please comment.

Well my understanding is that the when crossed with a golden gene it would negate the bars - but I could be way off ...

Primary food is (75%) Tetra Prima mixed with a combination of Sera General and Blue food for Discus is their staple food. I then occasionaly feed Ocean Nutrition Blood Worm and Artemia as sweets I must say the growth on my fish has been very good in my opion and I'm sure that the daily water changes does'nt hurt either ....

Cool, so are you saying that this fish shows absolutely no so-called vertical stress barring at all?

 

When it was younger it showed very very faint bars but they don't show now at all.

 

How long you had the fish for?

 

Do I need my lawyer ?
