Is there a reason why you want to feed fish something that is completely out of their diet?

Well let us not assume what i have and have not kept in the last 15 years of my experience.

But in my own opinion i have never heard of any fish eating beef heart in nature. So why put it in their diet in a glass box.

But there is contradictory results regarding feeding discus beef heart.

If you feed it and have good results excellent for you.

Instead of trying to find insults

Why dont you find it in this opportunity and give your own opinions regarding why you would feed it?

I probable been breeding fish longer than u were born...my success at it came from my own experiments...the discus we have in our tank i not the same in th wild. Amost every tank bred fish thst even u feed in u tank is not wat they eat in the wild....domestic fish cannot be compared to wild variants..diet is different....i have followed wattley for decades...his sucess is phenomenal.. maybe u shud do some invstigation of u own before u comment.wat works for me might not work for u...if u have fed beefheart with no sucess thats u problem...its no rule of thumb or caste in stone rule....that is the joy of fishkeeping

    I have kept Discus.....

    Fed them primarily beef heart.
They grew quickly into decent sized specimens
But with hindsight, am not sure it's an ideal food for them.

If I kept Discus again, would probably feed more crustaceans etc - brine shrimp, mysis, cyclops, freeze dried black worm

    My thoughts as well

Excellent food source but would rather stick to natural options.

I used the Stendker beef heart. Imported directly from Stendker via the UK supplier.

I didn't have any issues with it.
But as I say, it is probably not the ideal food for them.
And yes, they don't eat mammal meat in nature. Their digestive system and metabolism isn't designed for it

My kids would probably eat crisps and chocolate all day long if I allowed them to.
    Doesn't mean they should

Feeding beefheart is an excellent source of protein for them, it is like steriods for fish, but in the long run it causes liver problems for the fish as it is a fatty meat and not a organic/natural part of their diet.

I am not here to agree neither disagree with you or try to change your mindset, just here to share my point of view, but as times has changed so has studies shown that it is bad for them in the long run.
