    Hi @phishman

Well done matey. So explain to me what you have done here?
This is one of the Hanke San Merah? The Alencer is self-bred and raised and thus not Parasite free correct?
I take it you have enough San Merah pairs and now started experimenting with breeding the male to his female?

    Hi Marco

the male is a fish that I acquired some time ago and is not from the hanke batch and thus not parasite free. I'm not sure of his origin, he is a brown type and my feeling was leaning towards a poor quality San merah. Whatever we want to call him, I'm happy with his shape and parent ability and he is a good match for the only female alenquer I have left.

currently I have not pulled any pf fishes from their facility to mix with any other fishes and I doubt I will. I simply don't have enough time to have too many discus pairs breeding at the moment and want to concentrate all my efforts on the pf investment Dirk and I have made. As you know, the biggest expense with keeping and breeding discus is time.

i have 1 confirmed pair of mm's currently that have given me offspring and I've identified another potential pair. Once our winter sets in, I'm holding thumbs all hell breaks loose and I get at least another 2 pairs off the remaining 10 adults. Let's see.

but in the meantime, I'm only in my 3rd season of breeding discus in general so I'm using this pair to gain more much-needed experience in breeding. And hoping to keep the alenquer strain going.

    Hey Andrew

Ok-thank you for the reply. Could be that the male is from Rose red lineage also. They tend to look very similar to this male.

Im glad to hear all is going well Andrew. Keep it up.

    Rgds

    Stunning fish.
Hopefully the youngsters will turn out as nice as the parents.

They are awesome!! I didn't read every post in the thread (will take ages) but do you ever plan on selling some young? What would one be looking at i.t.o price just for interest sake?

Thanks Herve, this is the last female of the Alencer line and im really hoping we can get the strain going again with the youngsters. These are the only non-pf discus I still have a passion for so would hate to lose the line.

Are you not concerned that there may be some cross contamination from these non pf to the rest of your pf setup?

Absolutely, this is always a concern, but we have protocols in place to minimise the risk. I do have nervous moments though when people come into the facility....

@pHish_man, you should probably ban people from your facility. Don't need some idiot wrecking your hard work.
