    Hi All

I would like to hear your opinion on this. Don't you guys think this would look awesome in a planted tank and if one would encounter any problems with something similar.

So is this a good or bad idea??? :tomato:

That would make an interesting addition to a planted tank. I think it would also look pretty impressive in a malawi tank, (Where plants generally don't survive!)

Not sure how the bone would change the water pH, or if it would effect the water hardness to any degree making it hard for plants to grow... Would be interesting to here other comments.

I think it would look awesome yeah. Only problem I can see is the teeth are very sharp and might hurt the fish.

How does bone do in water though? Won't rot or anything?

that is absolutely stunning...my general opinion is that won't rot...i don't think its real bone, maybe some sort of marbel...i've seen tanks with skulls and stuff, so i'm guessing its the same material...could affect water Ph like zoom said...but how much is selling for?

oh and i figured out a way to view pics from Photobucket, so yay:bigsmile:

it doesnt look natural and really affects the look of a fish tank. it reminds me of those shipwrecks we see in marine tanks (and fw). a tank looks stunning if it suits the fishes natural habitat.

granted, you have a good point there...as do we all try and re-enact the fish's natural habitat...but somethings just look so stunning, i've been to the LPS in the bluff here in durbs, and they a 8ft tank, with a huge arowana in it, and in the tank is a skull, that tank looks amazing, even though its not natural...it still is stunning...

The anubias idea is a great one! and moss!!! oooh just picture it... the skull half buried with interesting plants growing around and on it.

I don't think it's unnatural... reason being... that is a crocs skull hey? Crocs are freshwater reptiles... so it's perfectly natural to find a crocs skull at the bottom of the lake.

It's like this Betta tank I saw somewhere. It has a Budda in it, although I'm not too keen on the statue, the rest of the setup looks stunning. It has bamboo and moss everywhere... looks really nice, and for some reason it suits the Betta.

Aaah, that's just me rambling :D

Beautiy is in the eye of the beholder.

What some people may think looks stunning in their tank, will look wrong to someone else. I try and stay away from giving my OPINION so strongly, because I know that my tank doesn't necessarily look good to someone else.

Put it this way, Johan might think his wife is GORGEOUS, but Johan will think Piet's wife is gross. Why did Piet marry his wife... BECAUSE TO HIM SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!

    Thanks.

I think it would look good in certain setups, if done correctly, and made out of the correct material. Assuming it's not a real skull.

I would think that the skull would be plastic so that it does not mess with the tanks parameters and any way who could afford a real croc's skull, I think that can set you back a few hundred rand or even more.
I agree with Zoom 100% this could make or brake the look of a tank but I would love to try my hand at putting a croc skull into my planted tank.....lol
