dead odessa barb

    Dear Prof D,

    I found one of my Odessa barbs floating amongst the plants in my 540L tank yesterday. He must have been dead for sometime as he was starting decompose rather nicely. He was one of a school of +-50 fish so he wont really be missed. Can you please tell me what killed him? Sorry I can't provide you with any photos.

    Pity it had decomposed already Henk. Did you check your water parameters by any chance?

    It is very difficult to diagnose what went wrong here, but it may even be that the fish was not 100% and I am not talking about sick before he got into your tank. If everything else is A-OK, then I would not worry, drink a dop and watch your fishes! In a 2.5 m aquarium you have quite a bit of watching to do.....

    The word you were looking for was "empathy". We must teach Henk the spelling and then the meaning of this, because I do not think he has heard of it. Fishes also enjoy empathy.....
