Dark Silica Sand

    Does this exist and if so from where? I want a dark, fine substrate that doesnt cost R12 343 653 457/kg...

    Ask your lfs for something called black sparkle, I use it in my tank and it looks stunning

    I'm not sure if I can provide you a lead also but it does only cost R1 a kg at a place I know.
    maybe it's up now but I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to say it.
    Mods if not allow please advise. As it does not cost R123456789 per kkilos bit of ddrive and
    you pack your own bag. I use to buy foundry sand from them as well.
    but that's a supplyer some 6 years ago not sure if still around.
    its close to a dam that's close to jhb and PTA and north west.

    Black sand used for bearded dragons is cheap? Might be too fine?

    Yes the sand is fine, but some of the makes have the sand vitamin enriched as the beardies do eat it from time to time along with their food so id advise against it, also its not very cheap,

    here is a number for a guy i also use, he charges R180 per 20kg of gravel and delivers in certian areas, he also have different coarseness

    It's by harties dam the Chameleon village the road that leads to pecon wood golf estate.
    ask the engen garage guys but as I said last brought some 6 years ago.
    R1 can't inflate that much can it???

    This is not sand btw its the stuff that shop repackage.
    as I said it might be far to drive ??? Or everyone ok with harties

    @BBQ - This is South Africa, look at electricity lol. Hop eit has not gone up much though!
    There is also a substrate called Hawaii sand or something similar. They go for around R100 a bag.
