    Hi everyone

I have been working on a new line of Rams for the past 14 months. The original stock came from Israel and was slightly darker in colour than normal German Blue rams.

It has now been a few generations of line breeding, and I have now finally reached the stage where they are breeding true to form.

I decided that I will name them
    Dark Knight Rams.

these should be available in SA from around June.

    Thanks everyone

@Lysine yes it is me you spoke to via FB

And Pierre yes they should be available from Pet stop from around end of May/early June

In time i will still try and improve colour on them. It will be an improvement if I can get some iridescent blue scales all across the body
A few offspring show promise but that will be a long term goal I fear.
For now I am happy that they breed true.

    Hi Moolis

I think aquascaping and balance is intensely personal.
Ive discussed keeping them along with some Venezualan Black corys and some Black Neons in a lush green planted tank with a few hobbyists.
    This will be quite striking

They would probably not look too good in a true Blackwater set-up, and ominously appear almost ghostslike

Some are obviously darker than others, with females being almost pitch black, whereas males lighten up towards the caudal area.
So one would have to have a light coloured sand (a La Plata or Colorada ADA type), and certainly then amongst greenery and even preferably some red leaved plants also.
They have a very pretty red-rim to their dorsal and anal fins and I think for max effect this all need to be contrasted with lighter and more vibrant colours.

We can try do such a set-up and then see what it looks like

    Marco

I would use a light background in the tank.

Mine is black, and I think the fish would blend in too much

On the other hand....I have found that some of the fish I have kept tend to go quite dark in order to blend in more.
Might enhance the black in these Rams?
