Daily 5L change on 3 foot RAM tank

Hi All

i read that Rams are very fussy when it comes to Amonia,nitrate, nitrite level and that they do not tolerate any spike in any of those. so i decided to do a 5L daily water change on my 3 foot tank to keep the water as fresh as possible. on top of that i do a 10 to 15% change on saturdays. is this too much new water coming into the tank, should i carry on with the daily changes or am i actually hurting my RAMs with changes in water parameters...

please advise

You aren't changing your water parameters with 5% water change daily and I don't think it's worth the effort. Rather do two bigger water changes if you are worried. I tend to do a single 40% water change on my 3ft by the time I'm finished gravel vacuuming etc.

 

but now if i go with a 40% is that not too much of a shock for the RAMS ? i try get the temperature as close a possible to the tank temp but its not exact. the other problem is i don't vaccum, as i have planted grass and a lot of moss. my worry is that i don't think that the plants are taking enough of the junk in the water to be safe. here is a pic of the tank

maybe 25% twice a week,if there isnt a high fish load it should be ok

the load is not bad. at all, i will get my water tested this weekend and take it from there.
