hey guys and girls..i ordered some fish from dolphin a few months ago...amongst the fish i ordered were some of these...i had a large male...but wanted more so ordered 14 young ones from dolphin...when they are young they look like your normal frontosa ( the burundi variant) that all the petshops sell..but as they mature they get an awesome blue colouration on the head and top half of the body..excuse the pics...i was too lazy to clean my front glass.lol

BTW..i was so chuffed with these little guys i ordered 8 wild caught ones too..cant wait for them to arrive..their colours should be even better..

i also ordered some leptosoma kitumba...but they are just too fast to get a decent pic of..so i got one off the net just to show how awesome they are..pity they are so scarce here in South Africa..

By the way..these are all one species..in a batch of babies the males can vary from purple to yellow or blue..and a mix of all three colours..these are one of my favourites at the moment

    Hi Sarf
Your Fronts are looking good in that big tank and I'm sure they will grow very fast in that space.
    Cant wait for the youngsters.

    Regards

Very nice! One of (if not) my favourite Rift Lake species - the colours look superb! :) Keep us updated, I can't wait for the results!

PS: be sure to get the pics of the wild caughts up as soon as you get them settled!

I had the frontosa in a 1000litre tank..traded them for adult blue zambian fronts, then sold the zambians as i'v ordered wild caught kipilli blue fronts which should arrive in a week or two..unfortunately i lost the leptosoma kitumba to a crazy disease that cleared out all the fish in that tank..but i'v ordered wild caught leptosoma kerenge which i hope to breed
