Only problem I have with the spong filters is that they take up a lot of space in a tank and they are not nice looking.

    The SF-102 is 77mm x 77mm x 240mm.

This would have been more ideal if we could get them here locally - the SF-03 and you can put it in a corner too to hide it

    Total Length: 20cm/7.87inch
    Sponge Length: 16cm/6.30inch
    Sponge Diameter: 6cm/2.36inch

Gonna take those potted plants out soon btw. As soon as the two fry that are hiding in there somewhere decide togrow the hell up and stop clinging to them. If theyre even still alive after the hydra episode

That first one will be perfect. Never seen the small ones before. Doesn't take up much space. Perfect grazing place for the shrimp

Agreed, @Pierré Schoonraad - first one is easier to get locally, the 2nd one is from an international buying website that ships worldwide. I wouldn't take a chance in buying from overseas online shop websites.

I might be one of the lucky ones as all the stuff I got from ebay arrived although it took more than 2 months in some cases

Haha brilliant. I also use elbow joints in my tank - current DIY filtration is a one stage water filter attached to a pump - the outflow is fitted with an elbow joint

Here's a better picture without the reflections. Spunge filters that are available are really too big for this tank. I cant really find anything thats gonna fit. The little pump ive got in there is already just bigger than a matchbox... so unless i make one myself (which i probably will eventually) it would be a step in the wrong direction. But Ive checked out a few videos and as soon as i get my hands on an air pump im going to see if i cant get away with fewer uglies in my tank

Yeah Ane, that video you posted on the DIY filter - worth the time to do it with an air pump. Specially for a tiny tank. My 2c advice here - if you really want a quiet air pump, I would suggest Tetra's airpumps. I have one and it's extremely quiet... Worth the money spend on it
