    Hi All,

I started my 4ft up last week sunday and then on the monday i started adding seachem stability as indicated with one pleco and 6 silver tip tetras. Tested my water twice so far, latest being yesterday. With no traces of Nitrate or nitrite...

Now my question. How will i know my tank is cycled or has enough bacteria established? I cant test for ammonia so im not sure if the seachem has kicked in?

How will i know i can add more fish without having to wait another 3-4weeks to see if the nitrate is building up...? Lol im very impatient :) help plz

    Thanks!

Get some MicrobeLift Special Blend. You can add fish immediately once you have dosed.

There are many 'cycling' products on the market, and all should speed up the process of cycling. What I would advise though is that it would be foolish just to dump ALL your fish into the tank at once regardless of what product you use. Tank occupants should always be steadily increased to avoid any spikes in Nitrites and ammonia, which occur when the bioload is suddenly increased by a large amount.

My suggestion, add a coupple of fish every day or two to reach your 'capacity'.

    Regards
    G!

Hey Bud, Cycled the last 5 tanks with Stability, works great.

Follow the instructions and add a few fish every week. it will take some time for the ammonia to build up from fish waste then that will eventually become nitrates. Give it time :)

I used the Tetra Safestart quite successfully.

But I know that there are a lot of people who have only bad things to say about these products. Don't know why, if they work, they work!

just check the expiration date on tetra safestart, the shelf life is very short. most of the ones I've seen in shops were very much expired
