    Howzit people
this is something i am struggling with, current/flow in planted tank, the flow is always too much and the long stem stringy plants are blown all over the show, and the tank does not look nice when everything is laying downwards and on top of other plants.

i have a hang on filter and a small internal powerhead filter, and have both turned down to create as little flow as possible.

i want to know how you guys with planted tanks deal with this?

    Thank You

I don't use HOB's or internal canister. I use an external canister, and attach the inlet to a spraybar. It is however advised to have a bit of water circulation / current in the tank to preven the buldup of any algae.

tahnx zoom, i dont know if you remember my thread about my cannister that i received from someone. the one that has to be run with a powerhead, it runs fine like that, but im not using it BECAUSE the inlet is just a pipe, what every suppose to be at the end is missing, so ifi run it over the edge of the tank and into the water and onto a powerhead, there is a kink in the pipe where the pipe goes over the legde of the tank.
then the outlet is also just a pipe but thats at least a U-shaped end so it hangs on the edge of the tank nicely
can one buy spray bars that i can just fit on here???

The inlet is suppose to have like a basket over it to prevent fish from slipping up it. Ideally you don't want any kinks in the pipe. If you do have kinks, then the pipe may be getting old. Just pop over to Builder's and buy some clear tubing to replace the piping. (Cheaper than LFS). And you can more than likely DIY your own spraybar using some electrical conduit?

FOr the inlet basket, you could use a big sponge?
