So my large 3m tank sprung a nasty leak. The silicone between the front and bottom panel had started to weaken. This morning a leak had started in the middle bottom, not a hectic one but enough to send me into a panic. I've had the tank for 8years and bought it second hand so I realize the whole thing is going to need to be resealed from top to bottom. EMERGENCY Storage of fish needed ASAP
Various options were considered including buying a tank, going to the aquarium etc.
Couldn't find space in any lfs.
So after a lot of sweet talking I convinced my father that the fish could temporarily stay in our unused jacuzzi. Jacuzzi was cleaned ,tank water transferred as well as some of the decor, pump and heater.

    Fish that were moved.

Glad you were able to make a plan to keep them safe. I don't know what I would do if that had to happen to me.

I have that blue pool covers for it but I'm worried there wont be enough surface breakage and therefore not enough oxygen.

There's going to be huge ammonia spike most likely. Maybe add some stability or similar product?

Throw a heater in there and you've got yourself a tropical fishpond! I think it looks really good

he he - it is going to work so well that it will become a permanent arrangement before long. Not that having a BIG outside tank is a bad idea.

Just an update everybody is still doing very good. Just wanted to hear everyone's opinion, should the whole tank be taken apart and resealed or can we just resilicone it?

Full tank .. good clean .. new silicone.

Make sure you get all the old silicone off.

If one starts to go the rest are sure to follow.

    Later Ferdie

I recently got a quote and nearly had a heart attack, but it is understandable that it is a lot of work.

Ask @symphysodon to help you with rebuilding the tank, he won't mind. Wish I had a jacuzzi too keep all my fishes in when I redo the 4ft and get rid of the Malaysian Trumpet Snails. What is your rental rate on your jacuzzi?
