Guys, I think we all need to take a step back here. There is a general accepted way of conduction yourself on a forum, and I think it would be a good idea for Rory to post some guidelines on how to conduct yourself.

The problem with an online forum is that when we are typing, our sarcasm, tone of voice, facial expressions are not expressed in our words. Sometimes a "jokes" or "LOL" or a :p :blink1:  would help... but generally speaking everything on a forum is taken seriously and to heart.

A lot of us have been chatting together online for a while, and we've even met in person, and kinda know each other. The problem is that the new guys don't know our "culture" (for lack of a better word), so everything is taken seriously.

I personally feel that if your comment is to the detriment of the thread, or not constructive in any way... keep it to yourself. If you feel strongly about something... say it in a diplomatic way... there's no point in making enemies in a a hobby we a all do... and I think I will go as far as saying that fishkeeping stops being a hobby to most of us, and becomes a way of life!

Personally, I think a crashed plane set up would actually look pretty damn good if it was set up properly.

nice reply Zoom, but we offered what ever little assistance we could, if the advice offered wasn't good enough, then "wikus" should have approached us in a calmer manner instead of lashing out at the entire forum...needless to say, no one had discouraged the idea of a crashed plane, well, almost no one, but you are right in what you are saying...

Zoom you're right, but Jesse has a point too. Most of us did try and help where we could and yes there were a few who weren't very helpful, but then we should have remained calm too and either just ignored him or formulated our responses differently.

I'm guilty of jumping the gun, and for that I do apologise.

Yes, there were a comment or 2 that I personally felt were uncalled for.. and I think if it were me... I would have also lashed out. Again.. if you have nothing nice to say, or are not prepared to BACK UP YOUR STATEMENT with a CONSTRUCTIVE answer, then SHUT the f up!

I guess we all suffering from end of week stress.... Tell you what... I'll chat to your bosses and organise that you can all take Monday off just to de-stress a bit?

(If you work in retail indusry... sorry, I can't help your a$$ out... by maybe a good pay check for working on a Monday?)

Zoom have you noticed how many members have joined the forum and only asked for help and you never get to see them online again? People abuse these forums for a quick answer to their problems, but their are not willing to become part of this community?

Yes... I have noticed... and you would have also noted that I would have been one of the first people to tell them to go and introduce themselves, before anyone helps.

I personally believe that a person needs to be a "guest" for a certain period of time before they are allowed to join a forum. That way the forum will see if you are going to become part of the forum.

The statistics the other day were 777 members, and 222 active! Explain to me why the other 555 are still allowed to remain a member?

Exactly my point. I really appreciate it that you enforce users to introduce themselves.
