    Hi guys
I have been trying to get a nice planted tank on the go for a while now .i added diy CO2 into the tank(3 2l bottles which get changed in order so the CO2 stays constant) but i think it is a bit pointless atm since i am running a hob filter on it and since i added the CO2 i have gotten some BBA( probly because the HOB is adding O2 on one side and CO2 is being added on the other). The tank is 100L and is med/heavy planted with lots of moss and well grown in. There are only 2 fish in the tank a malawi and his CAE friend , i am not planning on adding any more fish into the tank as the are happy the way it is. i am wanting to take out the HOB and only run with a small internal filter. I feel that with the small bioload and the plant mass i could get away with using less filtration.

    What are your guys thoughts?

PS. the water is almost to clean atm for the plants :)
    Thanks
    Antony

are you monitoring your CO2? i would not recomened running with out a filter unless you change to an intank filter.

also how clean is almost to clean for plants?

Why dont you add a sump, and administer the Co2 through there??

Well as long as you keep the water moving within the tank I can't see any problems with that

yea i would not run with no filter i would just change to a 400L/h internal filter . I havent started to monitor the CO2 because of the amount of O2 the Hob has been pushing in. Well if my test kit is correct which it probly is not my nitrates and nitrites are both 0 with basicly no amonia . I forgot to add that i have the 400L/h internal filter in there already :p and the CO2 is diffused by a powerhead

There can be saturated O2 and CO2 in the waterat the same time. if you plan on getting rid of the HOB to lower O2 levels, I strongly recomend you look at monitoring the CO2 levels to much and your fish with go belly up.

You should look at getting or making a CO2 bell.

As for the BBA Genrally from what i have experienced Black beard algea or BBA's presence indicates low CO2 or fluctuating CO2 levels i thingk the later is applicable here.Maybe one of the experts can confirm this.

At what temp do you keep your CO2 reactors at? cold temp will slow there reactions.

Am i correct in understanding your tank has no nitrates or nitries? and some ammonia?

I keep the reactors in a foam box next to the tank so the temp stays at about 25. Yea i dont think my test kit can be right
