    Cute! Are you actively breeding them or are they doing things on their own?

    Well, Mark, I just figure if you actively look after your fishes, they will reward you with plenty of young again and again.....:tongue:

    Thanks Andrew.

    Sorry, what I meant was are they in their own setup and is the setup setup for breeding purposes.

    I found a 1cm Sterbai in my 300l community tank the other day so I have a breeding pair. I think the Angels or possibly the BN or SAE are eating the rest of the eggs though!

    Oh, right.

    I have a group of sterbai's in a tank. They spawned and just before the eggs hatched i removed them to a separate tank for hatching. I could already see the eyes through the egg shell at that stage.

    Great excitement as there is a total of 37 fry.

    @pHish-man,

    Well done.
    My sterbai lay eggs regularly. But since I have decomissioned my smaller tanks, I have to leave them to their devices in the community tank.
    None survive. :cry:

    @pHish_man,

    I can't :cry:

    It was all part of the deal I did with the Mrs.
    Decomission all the tanks, plastic containers and all other paraphanalia scattered about the house, and she would agree to me upgrading my 240L to the 550L tank I have now.
    I know she isn't keen on it taking up half our lounge, so I have to keep up my end of the bargain.

    How many did you have in what sized tank? I currently have 9 Trilineatus in my 135l which I hope will start breeding again. They were 5 then became 11 but I lost 2 when I had to house them in a 25l...

    Well done on getting these to spawn. Hoping mine will do the same. Any special conditions you created to induce spawning?

    Thank you for the kind words.

    To answer your question briefly, no, I do not induce spawning on any of the fish i breed ( discus, angels and now corys ). Im a firm believer that if you condition your fish well with good feeding and maintain the specific fish's water parameters, they will spawn on their own. I dont try and manipulate them to spawn. I have read of various methods to get corys to spawn, but i just let mine do their own thing.

    @pHish_man,
    I agree, healthy, well fed fish do spawn regularly without any "help".

    Having said that, if I ever wanted to get my Malawis to spawn, a water change with some chilly water, and off they would go. :nuts:

    Agreed they need to be healthy to start with, which can be considered conditioning. The trigger to get any species to do the deed can often be simulated rainfall, i.e. water change, which in their natural habitat would announce a time of abundance of food for the fry etc... You obviously keep your fish very well, i.e. they are 'ever-ready'.

    Well done mate. Mind sharing what you feed them to condition them and water specs like temps and Ph?
