    Hi all

Finally have something decent to post on. Read a bauers' post about his spawn and cory behavior and had noticed mine doing something similar a while back. Last night added some water to the tank and this afternoon I noticed my neons having a little feast.

I think I removed about 60 eggs and will place them in a guppy breeder or something similar and just see what happens.

Will try get some pics up of the parents and eggs a little later this evening.

@dougbb congrats on your spawn. If you are using a guppy breeder for your cory eggs, you should move it to another tank because the cory babies are so small when they just hatch that they fit through the slots, and will still get eaten. With my first spawn the angels in the tank sucked the babies out through those skots.

Good luck, hope you get some babies.

Thanks guys. Yeah I can imagine them fitting though the gaps, I have a few 1fts around that I'll set up in the next day or so.

@A Bauer how long did your guys take to hatch? I've read 5 days? and what did you feed them on, can they eat baby brine shrimp?

    Cheers

Hi Doug, you promised pictures please. I have corys that I think are Corydoras sterbai (spotty with orangey-goldy fins?), but I'd like to see your pics to compare. Also to see what proud Cory parents look like :)

Baby Brine Shrimp will be fine. They take about 4/5 days to hatch and after 3/4 days the yolk sacks will be consumed and they will be ready for BBS.
    Good Luck!

Ok i don't know why mine hatch so quickly then 'cos the eggs were laid on friday and they hatched on sunday. So i would keep a good eye on them from about 48 hours. Newly hatched brine shrimp is fine, i just took the lazy way out and i'm using decapsulated brine shrimp eggs, no need for hatching.

BTW Gert Combrink is an experienced breeder, and mine was just by accident, so rather take his advice above mine as i can only tell you what happened with this one spawn and maybe them hatching out so quickly was a fluke.

Ok so this isn't exactly a cory, but a parakeet, have a flock that has moved into my area, pretty cool things.

Ok now to the real pics...

There are 5 of these guys in the tank, think one of these was a female as a few of the others were nudging her head and wiggling around next to her.

This is the tank that they live in, its a standard 2ft tank.

This is where the eggs were, sorry removed them before I took the pics. They were spread amongst the moss and on the glass, there are actually a few eggs still hidden in a few of the moss clumps, but couldn't get a clear picture

Finally these are some of the eggs I removed. I stuck some to the sides of the guppy breeder, then got tired of doing that, so took strings of moss and swirled them around until the eggs stuck, then placed into the breeder.

:D LOL - Love the parakeet. A flock in Linden!? A friend of mine that works in the area said a flock of parrots goes flying by. I thought she was nuts :) My corys look nothing like that. LOL

BUT my corys do look like your corys. I'm amazed your pictures are so clear. My fish don't hold still long enough. How big/old are they before they can reproduce? Looking forward to seeing the babies. Congrats!

That is a Ring Neck parakeet and looks like a female, the male has a black an orange ring around its neck.

    Awesome pics.

Will try my best to keep this as updated as possible thanks for the advice gert and A bauer.
@Jenn yeah in linden, they arrive daily and hop about the trees in our and neighbours gardens, then in the afternoon they leave as a flock to who knows where! would guess not too far away though.

Think pics were a fluke normally I just get blurs! No clue on the age, got them from dolphin over a year ago, so atleast that old. Guess they range in size from 5-7 cm but are quite stocky.

Will try get some macro pics of the eggs in a day or so if they have not hatched...

Some good news, looked into the 'tank' yesterday, thought I saw something shooting across when I moved the moss, but couldn't see it again, then checked again this morning and there a whole lot of tiny little fry darting around.

    Thats awesome news reaper!
Think I must have about 30 or so babies, but hard to tell, they just sort of hide out in the moss and dart back in when I move the moss around.
My first batch of bbs had a very low hatch rate, not too sure why, but made up a new batch this evening, so hopefully tomorrow night they will have a good meal.

    how to feed

    I need some advice please.

I have the fry in a container with filter and heater, the filter is tiny and surrounded by filter moss so just provides slight circulation. It also has a fair amount of mosses in it, when feeding do i just drop the bbs into the container, or pipette to where I see fry. At the moment just putting the bbs in over the moss and hoping that they find their way to the fry / vice versa...

Does anyone have experience with this or any suggestions on where to go from here?

    Hi guys.

The babies are doing well, not too sure how many hatched and survived the initial few days, but have seen at least ten at a time. Put in another 15 eggs on Friday, haven't seen any hatchlings yet. The first batch is growing amazingly fast! already got whiskers and swimming around like adult cory do. House sitting at the moment so don't have a camera put will try get some pics soonish. @Reaper how are your guys doing?
